President Dudley Thompson Statement on the Ivory Coast

Dudley Thompson

I send this message as the President of the World African Diaspora Union (WADU). WADU is a Pan African socio-political movement, global in extent as an umbrella association representing several hundred thousand members and supporters in the African Diaspora in process of integration with the African Union as its 6th Region. It is dedicated to the Unification of Africa as an equal power in the global arena. Its ultimate goal is our destiny for the Black African Renaissance based on universal peace, Justice and fraternity for all. It opposes bigotry, materialism and the present global system based on greed, military might and exploitation.

The recent political situation in the Ivory Coast is a matter of grave concern to us. We expect the bumps and obstacles along our agreed destination towards a sustainable democracy but we strongly object to foreign intervention in their sovereignty by threat, sanction or military force. That is not the desired policy to local African traditional method of solving internal disputes. I understand the overall interest of our African Union. That interest can best be served as the ultimate arbiter on appeal. The AU will however lose its own legitimacy if it takes sides at this early stage before the local disputants have exhausted its rights before accepted arbiters such as
their own courts of law or neutral arbiters accepted by both sides.

WADU offers its personal assistance in qualified African experts or working in collaboration with such internationally known personalities as Ambassador Salim Salim, former Secretary General of the OAU or Kofi Annan. WADU offers its assistance now. In support of this offer, WADU cannot be compared with well established foreign exploiters of past and recent history.

WADU strongly believes that military solution is not an option. This rather indicates frustration and impotence in African authority. I HAVE NO FEAR THAT THIS IS AFRICA ‘S YEAR because African history is on our side and therefore we shall overcome. I can be reached at WWW.WADUPAM.ORG.
