The Ivory Coast international told French television station Canal Plus that anything could happen, despite previously stating that he would like to remain at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career.

Drogba has played a key role in helping Chelsea to the top of the table this season, although they lost their unbeaten record in a 1-0 defeat at Manchester City last weekend – a game in which Drogba was substituted when his side were desperately seeking a goal.

‘When I signed a new contract at Chelsea, I always said I wanted to finish my career here. But I am well placed to say that anything can happen. When I was at Marseille I said I would finish my career there but, one week later, everything changed,’ he told the French news provider.

The forward, who has five goals so far in the Premier League this year, had been rumoured to be on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, while his former French employers Marseille have also shown an interest.

He moved to the Blues for £24 million in 2004 and has helped bring three league titles and three FA Cups to Stamford Bridge during his six years at the club.
